Este contador foi concebido a pedido de um cliente e o programa consistia num móvel para arquivar da forma mais funcional compact disks.
Em oposição ao high tech do sistema de leitura de música por CDs., optei logo por conceber um móvel em madeira maciça, com macheados e encaixes à semelhança da marcenaria tradicional Ibérica que durante séculos tão bem trabalhou as madeiras exóticas provenientes das colónias Africanas, Orientais e Americanas. Este trabalho procurou síntetizar os contadores de pernas torneadas de excelente funcionalidade, resultante de um controlo ergonómico cuidado.
As proporções surgem, da inter-acção escala humana / escala do objecto (CD). O compact disk só pode ser colocado nas gavetas numa posição, a única que permite a leitura da legenda da capa.
O Interior das gavetas é numa madeira clara, pau cetim, para proporcionar uma boa leitura do que se encontra dentro.
Todas as peças macheadas não são coladas, permitindo que a madeira se possa movimentar consoante as amplitudes térmicas do dia e as estações do ano.
Embora a peça na sua essência seja montada artesanalmente, o recurso à industria moderna foi fundamental, nomeadamente na sua standardização.
A nossa tradição de marcenaria é forte e sobretudo no Norte de Portugal foi muito fácil encontrar profissionais competentes, que me puderam ajudar a concretizar esta ideia e com os quais muito pude aprender. Nesta interacção profissional design, indústria e marcenaria, os técnicos envolvidos ao desempenharem o seu trabalho, procuram sempre aperfeiçoar e manter viva a tradição de qualidade que nos é característica neste domínio.

This counter was designed at a customer's request and the program consisted of a mobile to archive in the most functional way compact disks.
As opposed to the high tech system of reading music by CDs, I soon chose to design a solid wood furniture, with machetes and fittings similar to the traditional Iberian carpentry that for centuries worked so well the exotic wood from the African, Eastern and American colonies. This work sought to synthesise the turned leg counters with excellent functionality, resulting from a careful ergonomic control.
The proportions arise, from the interaction human scale / object scale (CD). The compact disk can only be placed in the drawers in one position, the only one that allows the reading of the cover legend.
The inside of the drawers is in a light wood, satin stick, to provide a good reading of what is inside.
All the macheted pieces are not glued, allowing the wood to move according to the thermal amplitudes of the day and the seasons.
Although the piece in its essence is assembled by hand, the use of modern industry was fundamental, namely in its standardization.
Our carpentry tradition is strong and especially in the North of Portugal it was very easy to find competent professionals, who could help me to realise this idea and from whom I could learn a lot. In this professional interaction design, industry and carpentry, the technicians involved in carrying out their work always try to perfect and keep alive the tradition of quality that is characteristic of us in this field.
